Jackie makes appearances on 'Fox & Friends'
15 june 2011 - www.patch.com by Kathleen Sauers.

A day after her “Dream With Me” CD was released, Jackie Evancho appeared this morning on “Fox & Friends” and performed for an audience outside the station’s New York studio. Jackie sang “Mio Babbino Caro”, the same song the Richland Township resident performed earlier this week on NBC’s “Today” show. Co-anchor Gretchen Carlson told Jackie that she had played the new CD for her 8-year-old daughter, who asked: “Mommy, when did she get that voice?”

Eleven-year-old Jackie told her she started singing when she was 8. “I guess I’ve always had [the voice], it’s just, I discovered it when I was 8.” Jackie said. Carlson introduced Jackie with the statement: “She’s only 11 years old and she’s already outselling Lady Gaga.” “You’re outselling Lady Gaga?” co-anchor Steve Doocy asked. “Yes, I’m a big fan of hers and I feel bad because I’m kicking them out of their spot,” Jackie replied. “Well, take that, Gaga, the 11-year-old is kicking your butt,” said Doocy, to which Jackie giggled.

At the end of the performance, co-host Brian Kilmeade held a gigantic poster that was made by Jackie’s fans with photos of her on it. “What picture stands out?” “This picture right here really stands out,” Jackie said, pointing to the poster, “because it’s my brother and I really miss him a lot.” [Jackie has three siblings – Jacob, Rachel and Zachary.] “And when she saw this poster from afar she got a little misty-eyed because you said you were on the road for a couple of weeks, you only saw him for two days, and then three days. It’s hard, right?” said Carlson. “It is hard. But, you know what? It’s hard, but the good thing is that you still get to see them. Plenty of other stars don’t even get to see their families as much as I do”.

On Tuesday, Jackie appeared on “The View” with the producer of her CD, David Foster. Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked “How does it all feel?” “It feels really, really cool. I mean I never imagined myself getting this far and having singing as a career and I really love every part of it. It’s amazing,” said Jackie. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked David Foster for three things that someone so young must have for career longevity. “For sure, you have to have discipline. And she has discipline beyond probably all of us. She is disciplined from 6 in the morning til midnight. That really shows through in everything she does. “And also, I know this is cliché, but I tell her all the time to stay on the straight and narrow. Put the blinders on. No drugs. None. Zero. Zero. Zero. Forever and ever. … The straight path is the clearest path,” David Foster said. Asked by Whoopi about Jackie’s parents, David Foster replied: “She has great parents and, of course you can’t control that, but she had the good fortune of having good DNA as well.”

Hasselbeck pointed out that Jackie wrote the title song to the “Dream With Me” CD and asked if that is something she plans to continue. “I would love to continue to do what I do, to write songs and I’m already starting, which is great for me, and I’m really excited to get it going”. David Foster said he asked her to continue to write lyrics, which has had prolific results. “She’s banged out 50 lyrics since I asked her two months ago.” Jackie then performed “All I Ask of You” with David Foster accompanying her on the piano.
