Jackie makes her move to the big screen at Toronto International Film Festival
12 september 2012 - Daily Mail by Fehintola Betiku.

She stunned viewers in the States when she took to the stage during the fifth season of America's Got Talent, and she went on to place second in the overall competition. Following her flawless performances on the talent show, Jackie Evancho made history with the chart success of debut releases. Now ready to take the film industry by storm, Evancho, 12, beamed as she attended the premiere of her first feature length film at the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday

The 12-year-old singer looked lovely in a flowing sapphire sleeveless mini dress which had an embroidered round collar. Wearing her blonde hair back in one, the Dream With Me performer teamed her dress with a pair of transparent opened toe kitten heels. Jackie received a warm embrace from her co-star Robert Redford who takes on the role of her father in the film he directed and produced, The Company You Keep. Accompanied to the screening by her father, the young star uploaded a picture of them hugging to her Twitter page yesterday.

The Company You Keep is based on a 2003 book by Neil Gordon, and tells the tale of an ex-member of left wing militants The Weathermen, who is outed when one of his comrades, played by Susan Sarandon, gives herself up.

In the political thriller Shia LaBeouf plays a determined young journalist chasing Robert after his past is revealed.

LaBeouf's Ben Shephard uncovers a network of former militants who went into hiding in the 1970s and are still wanted by the FBI for a robbery and murder, including Redford's Jim Grant, who is now a family man and respectable lawyer.

The plot twists and turns as Jim is forced to leave his family and look for the one person who can help him escape jail. Speaking about the film, Robert said: 'Fundamentally, the film is pretty much about what a man will do for a child, what a man will do to have the love of his daughter preserved.' The pace of the film has been compared to that of Redford's classic All The President's Men, which is also about a journalist hunting the truth.
